Pilates

XPhysiotherapy has been running Pilates classes in Brisbane since 2009 as the brain child of Sue Kelley, a physiotherapist with over 16 years experience in the physiotherapy world.  Sue introduced Pilates into the Toowong clinic as a result of clients requesting:

  • additional exercise options to compliment their physiotherapy;
  • ongoing exercise options post physiotherapy to prevent future injuries and maintain/improve good health.

At XPhysiotherapy we believe it is imperative to keep the class sizes to an absolute minimum.  This enables our instructors to spend important one on one time with each client ensuring they execute each exercise correctly, thus eliminating the risk of injury and providing maximum benefit.

Pilates is a system of body conditioning designed to strengthen and lengthen the body’s muscles with emphasis on reducing incidence of back pain and injury.  Pilates is an ideal anti-ageing exercise, because it tones and strengthens the muscles without the impact on joints.  It improves posture and strengthens the part of the body that age attacks, including the stomach muscles, inner thighs and upper arms.

Pilates is beneficial as a stand-alone exercise or in addition to any other exercise or sport where strength, conditioning and flexibility are key.

Our qualified Pilates Instructors have all worked within the medical, health and fitness industries for many years and are committed to providing our clients with the highest quality Pilates experience in Brisbane, whether it is a Mat or Reformer Pilates.
